The NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) is seeking a Field Technician to join our team at any of our main office locations for a 12-week term. To be eligible, applicants must have been enrolled in school within the past year and be returning to their studies in the fall. Preference will be given to post-secondary students.

The field technician student will support the ENR team by assisting with various duties such as environmental surveys and other sampling/data collections. The ideal candidates will lead in excellent data entry and writing skills.

Roles and Responsibilities for Field Tech

  • Assist in the completion of environmental surveys and other environmental sampling/data collections, such as wetland delineations, assessments, and carbon sampling.
  • Collaborate closely with the project coordinator, who will provide all training.
  • Conduct surveys for birds, plants, and mammals.
  • Assist in the maintenance of monitoring equipment.
  • Assist ENR Department with other programs when required, such as salmon designation distribution.

Skills and qualifications

  •  Knowledge of data collection, sampling and recording.
  •  Great communication skills.
  •  Accustomed to using mobile tools and applications.
  •  Critical thinker and problem solver.
  •  Experience with managing and maintaining technical equipment.
