The NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual to fill the role of Program Navigator – Medical Transportation Program in the Health and Community Services department. The ideal applicant will demonstrate compassion, accountability, and responsiveness to members seeking assistance in navigating the health system for medical travel. Working under the direction of the Health and Social Department Director, the Program Navigator will be responsible for liaising with other agencies and government service providers to enhance NCC’s Medical Transportation Program. 

This is a temporary position to March 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension.  The position is located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support NCC members in helping them navigate and access medical transportation programs and services currently offered by the provincial government, health boards, agencies, and other service providers.
  • Liaise with government agencies and the provincial health authority to support members seeking assistance to attend medical appointments.
  • Track and monitor interagency referrals to provide statistical information for the department as needed.
  • Provide program support to the NCC Medical Transportation team, enabling a more effective and efficient service delivery.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education in office administration, business administration, or a similar field of study; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience in administrative duties is essential;
  • Ability to work well with people in challenging situations as they navigate medical programs and services;
  • Must be tactful and diplomatic in managing sensitive and confidential information;
  • Computer literacy (MS Excel and Word) is essential;
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills;
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively as a team and a self-starter when working independently;
  • Experience working with Indigenous groups is an asset; and
  • Experience in program and service navigation is an asset.

Travel may be required. Preference may be given to qualified members of the NunatuKavut Community Council.

Salary range: $51,500 – $55,000 per annum
