The NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) is accepting applications for a Language Program Lead. Working under the direction of NCC’s Research, Education and Culture department, this position will coordinate, develop and lead language programming and planning across NunatuKavut. The Language Program Lead will strategically work to engage communities and schools and promote Inuttitut through various avenues, resource development and language revitalization planning.
This position is full-time to March 31, 2028.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Organize, prepare and guide the coordination of Inuttitut training sessions for various age groups, delivered virtually and in-person across NunatuKavut.
- Co-lead strategic language planning efforts alongside REC Manager.
- Finalize, review, and implement Inuttitut language lessons developed in collaboration with educational consultants.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with instructors, alongside the language coordinator as a liaison between instructors and NCC while directly reporting to REC Manager.
- Lead the planning of and assist in hosting community events and activities to promote language use and cultural engagement.
- Participate in the development and coordination of language research.
- Collaborate with coordinator and translator to produce and archive audio recordings for language resources.
- Oversee translation requests ensuring timely completion of all requests.
- Provide continual maintenance of the translation database.
- Contribute to the development of Inuit-based curricula and resources, ensuring alignment with educational standards.
- Identify funding proposal opportunities and co-lead proposal writing.
- Monitor and report on program budgets, ensuring accountability and alignment with funding requirements.
- Track progress of tasks, deliverables, and language initiatives, preparing monthly status updates for internal review.
- Identify and address project challenges, proposing actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Other related duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge and awareness of Inuit culture, history and way of life.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage and lead the implementation of multiple tasks and priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor, report on, and manage program budgets effectively.
- Experience aligning program activities with financial requirements and funding expectations.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in maintaining databases, managing program deliverables, and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Effective analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
- Must have computing skills using MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint and other relevant software.
- Proven experience in program coordination, project management, or a related field.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours.
- Must be able to travel with own method of transportation.
- Familiarity with virtual platforms and tools for remote learning and resource sharing.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Post-secondary education in social sciences, community development or other relevant field of study or demonstrable equivalent expertise gained through education, training, life, and work experience.
- 3-5 years experience in managing or supporting funding applications, detailed reporting requirements, and program budgets.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating teams or committees, including work planning and timelines, tracking deliverables and database management.
- Experience in event facilitation and community engagement.
Preference will be given to qualified members of NunatuKavut Community Council.
