Did You Know?
There are many types of diabetes, but the 3 main ones are:
- Type 1 Diabetes — The pancreas does not produce any insulin (a hormone that helpscontrol the amount of glucose or sugar in your blood)
- Type 2 Diabetes — Your body cannot make enough insulin or does not properly use theinsulin it makes.
- Gestational Diabetes — Can occur during pregnancy, triggered by hormones
Understanding diabetes is crucial for prevention and management!

Did You Know?
- Every three minutes, someone in Canada is diagnosed with diabetes?
- Males are at a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes than females.
- Body fat stored around the stomach rather than thighs and hips is a risk factor for developing type 2 diabetes.

Did You Know?
Signs and symptoms of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are very similar and may include:
- Frequent urination (sometimes 8 times a day)
- Excessive thirst
- Weight change (gain or loss)
- Blurred vision
- Wounds and cuts that are slow to heal
Diabetes is not a choice, but how you live with it is!
