Under the direction of the NEAT Coordinator, this team of 15 youth will work with NCC’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) to engage in community action-based projects to help preserve and protect the natural environment in NunatuKavut, our territory. This group will provide youth with opportunities to learn more about their local environments, species-at-risk, the potential impacts of climate change and mitigation & long-term adaptation strategies.
The team will design and deliver traditional knowledge and science camps, job shadow NCC staff (biologist, ENR staff, Resource Technicians, and Guardians) on research projects and identify citizen science projects. NEAT will provide participants with the tools to participate in ecology-related projects. Elders will be invited to share traditional knowledge to promote Inuit ways of stewardship (ie. take only what you need).
Some of the interactions may be held virtually.
