Nunatukavut

NCC has improved our High Efficiency Woodstove (HEWS) Program for NunatuKavut to increase access for community members! There is a limited supply of woodstoves and applications will be assessed on priority levels, but this will allow more community members to access as supply allows.

  • No income eligibility requirements
  • New installations are now eligible, even if you do not currently have a woodstove
  • Black Tickle residents who were unable to participate in the 2022 pilot project may now apply
  • Applicants must be full-time residents of one of the diesel-dependent communities in NunatuKavut

High Efficiency Woodstoves represent a sustainable and culturally appropriate solution to help address heat insecurity and reduce dependence on diesel. By leveraging the success of the Black Tickle pilot project and implementing a strategic distribution plan, we aim to improve the well-being and resilience of the remaining diesel dependent communities across NunatuKavut.

Designed for efficiency, these woodstoves provide longer-lasting heat with less firewood. Stay warmer and more comfortable while burning less wood.
