HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, LABRADOR, January 3, 2024 – NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) President Todd Russell today issued the following message of condolence on the passing of Gail King, a dear friend and long-time employee of the NunatuKavut Community Council and Nunacor:
“It was with profound sadness and shock that we received the news of Gail’s passing. Even now it seems surreal, unbelievable, that she is no longer with us. Gail personified making each day count. She lived life to the fullest and knew what was important. Family, friends and coworkers were a such a big part of her world. At work, she was a professional; hard-working, skilled, committed and dedicated. Like so much in her life, Gail cared. She cared about the work, the people and in ensuring that not just a good job was done but a great job. She was a team player and knew the importance of what she did each and every day. I thank her so much for her contributions and for her leadership, her wisdom and guidance. Gail has been such a major part of the growth and development of Nunacor and the NunatuKavut Community Council.
Of course, what was most important was family and those closest to her. She was loved and respected by all. This was the very same way she lived out her relationships with them, with us. Gail did much to care and give to others. This is why I am honoured to make a donation of $1000 in her memory to Helping Hands.
She also understood how important it was to take care of oneself. She loved working out (I met her on a walk many times), a good party a good laugh and she did it all with genuineness. Gail was an amazing person who lived life with passion and her light will forever be part of our people and communities. Her passing is such a heavy loss made all the more so because of how she touched the lives of so many in such positive ways. Gail was indeed a beautiful soul.
On behalf of myself, my family, the entire NunatuKavut community and team I extend our sincerest condolences to Sam, Alexandre, Jordan and Jenna and family, and to Gail’s many friends and co-workers.”
