The NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) is hiring two post-secondary students: one field assistant and one administrative assistant. The field assistant will support the Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) team by assisting with various duties such as environmental surveys and other sampling/data collections. This position can be located in Upper Lake Melville or in a NunatuKavut coastal community. Travel for field work throughout the territory will be required.
The administrative assistant, reporting to our Research, Education and Culture department, will be responsible for greeting NCC members (in-person and telephone) and providing them with assistance in navigating services. They will also provide general clerical duties such as filing, answering inquiries, and providing administrative support to various programs such as the community freezer. This position is located in Upper Lake Melville.
The ideal candidates will have strong data entry and writing skills. Both student positions are for eight weeks.

Roles and Responsibilities for Field Assistant
- Participate in field work conducting environmental surveys and other environmental sampling/data collections, such as wetland delineations, assessments, and carbon sampling.
- Collaborate closely with the project coordinator, who will provide all training.
- Conduct surveys for birds, plants, and mammals.
- Maintain monitoring equipment.
- Assist ENR department with other programs when required, such as salmon designation distribution
Roles and Responsibilities for Administrative Assistant
- Greet clients (in-person and telephone) and provide them with assistance in navigating services.
- Provide administrative support for various programs and services.
- Data entry and document production.
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of programs and services.
- General office administration and file management functions
Salary
$17.30 per hour
