The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples (CAP) National Youth Council is the representative body for the rights and interests of Non-Status and Status Indians, Southern Inuit and Metis Aboriginal youth living off-reserve in Canada. As a steering committee member, you will have the opportunity to:
- Represent the interests of and advocate for all Canadian, off-reserve Indigenous youth at annual meetings and during other communications.
- Work alongside the National Youth Representative to attend any event or meeting they are unable to attend.
- Have a voice in national policy making decisions.
Positions are available for three (3) Steering committee members who are elected for a period of two (2) years. Any youth member of a CAP Provincial or Territorial Organization who is 18-30 years old may apply by emailing a copy of your resume and a short cover letter explaining about yourself, why you want the position, and what strengths and knowledge you can bring to the National Youth Council. Candidates will be given the opportunity to present themselves to the National Youth Council in-person or via Zoom video conferencing.
