AGA 2024

We are excitedly gearing up for our upcoming AGA closing assembly in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on February 2-3, 2024! Our theme this year is illaget, which is family in Inuttitut.

Registration opens at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2 and the assembly kicks off at 1:00 p.m.

What a line-up we have planned! Our agenda includes great discussions on topics like our new constitution, energy sovereignty and a new harvesting law to cultural workshops offering drumming, Inuttitut lessons and crafting. There will also be special performances by our youth drummers from Cartwright and Labrador City, as well as the Sandwich Bay Residential Schools Drummers. And lots of great prizes to be won of course!

Our closing supper and dance will feature the 40th anniversary reunion of the Black Tickle Band, made up of Richard Neville, Ambrose Keefe, Peter Keefe and Alphonse Keefe!

Registration through EventBrite has been closed as we have reached capacity. If you want to watch virtually as an observer, please contact Kelly at 709-280-5965 or communications@nunatakavut.ca. Please note that this means that you will be able to view the meeting but not actively engage or vote.

Community Meetings

NCC’s Annual General Assembly (AGA) process starts with a series of community meetings hosted by President Russell. We have a jam-packed agenda, including an report from President Russell covering highlights from NCC from 2023, a presentation of NCC’s financial statements and a review and discussion of NCC’s new Constitution.

At this meeting, we will be choosing delegates to attend our closing assembly in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on February 2-3, 2024. Being a delegate means that travel expenses related to the closing assembly will be covered.

The AGA closing assembly is considered the community meeting for members from Happy Valley-Goose Bay and North West River so interested members can register using Eventbrite at the following link: https://2024NCCAGA.eventbrite.ca. We may be able to cover mileage for those coming from North West River. Please email communications@nunatukavut.ca for further information.
