Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Marc Miller visits NCC head office
NunatuKavut Community Council met with Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Marc Miller at our head office in Happy Valley-Goose Bay this morning.
Vice-President James Holwell, along with Governing Councillors Jessie Tobin and Hughlett Williams, were on hand to welcome the Minister. We were also joined by Elders and NCC staff.
Dr. Amy Hudson, Chief Governance Officer and Co-Lead Negotiator on the RIRSD process, presented on the topic of NunatuKavut Inuit resistance, resilience and reclamation. She also talked about the importance of our nation-to-nation relationship with Canada in helping advance the rights and well-being of our people.
We were incredibly privileged to watch two youth from the Labrador West Inuit Youth Drummers – Katie Simmonds and Jenna Rumbolt – perform a powerful drum dance.
Nakummek to Minister Miller for visiting this part our territory.
