Food Security: Challenges, Costs and Access

NCC’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources Food Security Office is hosting a gathering in Port Hope Simpson to engage members on the challenges with food access and cost. We will also be exploring food sharing programs to help address some of the urgent needs, in addition to NCC’s Community Freezer Program.

Who should attend?
People and organizations who are interested in finding solutions to the food challenges that many face in our communities. You must pre-register as there are limited spaces available. We will select attendees based on: interest, community, and NCC membership, to ensure we have good representation from all perspectives.
What we’ll be doing:
- Afternoon water excursion (TBD)
- 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Community Feast and Discussion - 7:00 – 9 p.m.
Optional Hike - 9:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Fireside Chat
Travel assistance may be provided for one vehicle per community, and overnight accommodations provided for potential participants from Black Tickle, Cartwright and the Straits area.
