NCC and Nutrition North Canada are co-leading food sovereignty programming in Black Tickle
NCC’s Food Security Coordinator, Roxanne Notley, will be in Black Tickle from December 5-8, 2022, for activities with Nutrition North Canada and Labrador-Grenfell Health.
Roxanne will be assisting with programming such as:
- Interactive activities with St. Peter’s School
- Junior Chef afternoon
- Community Feast & Fun night
- Drop-in sessions on Hydroponics
- Fireside Chats
- Crafting
- An Inventory of foods in the area that are available for creating healthy meal ideas
The goal of food security programming in the area is to focus on the food that we eat, and how we can enhance the nutritional value of what we have readily available to residents in Black Tickle. We aim to engage youth and families in taking interest in where their food comes from, and helping to support steps to ensuring we always have access to good food.
