NCC announces Goose Watch Program
Goose Migration is underway and so is our new Goose Watch Program!
NCC’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) wants your help monitoring “nillet” or geese as they pass through our territory. By sharing your sightings, you will help us track their migration routes, the timing of their migration, and any changes that might occur over time!
This is the start of a multi-year #citizenscience program that helps us fill data gaps and better understand a species that is important to our culture and that relies on our land and waters for its survival.
Each week we will be posting a new photo on our Facebook Page and invite you to post your own in the comments. Every submission will get your name entered into a weekly draw to win some awesome outdoor prizes! There will be weekly draws every Friday for the next five weeks until October 20, with a large Grand Prize draw at the end!
How to enter:
- Add your goose photo in the comment section of each week’s Goose Watch Post
- Be sure to include the DATE the photo was taken, the LOCATION and the NUMBER OF GEESE seen at that time.
**By submitting your photo, you are granting NCC permission to use it in future communication products.**
pitsiagit – good luck – and thank you for helping NCC learn more about our geese migration!
