NCC research governance response to the COVID-19 pandemic
Our Research, Education and Culture (REC) department is requesting that all travel related to research conducted in NunatuKavut communities be suspended. This is in support of community measures related to self-isolation and NCC’s cohesive and collaborative approach to identifying, coordinating and facilitating initiatives related to NCC’s action around COVID-19 and other initiatives in our territory.
This notice is related to non-essential travel related to ongoing and proposed research within our communities. It includes travel to communities related to existing permits as well as a temporary halt to the issuance of new research permits that require travel to our territory.
Through dialogue with the REC department, researchers may identify alternative methods for potential inclusion in their research program. Aspects of research not related to travel within communities may proceed as outlined in existing approvals.
The NCC will continue to monitor the situation and provide notice regarding when this restriction has been lifted.
