NCC seeking member for Employment and Skills Development (ESD) Advisory Committee
The NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) is seeking a dynamic NunatuKavut member to sit on an ESD Advisory Group Committee to assist with policy development relating to various ESD-related agreements and Tier 1 client appeals. There is currently one seat in Area 1: Bolsters Rock to Spear Point (Port Hope Simpson, Charlottetown, Norman Bay, Pinsent’s Arm).
Length of Term
Current four-year term ends in July 2025. After that, all appointments will be four years.
Advisory Group Mandate
The Advisory Group is vested with the authority and responsibility to:
- Work with NCC’s ESD Director and staff to prepare an annual budget and operating plan for submission to council;
- Work with the Director and ESD staff to review ESD policy and guidelines on an annual basis and make recommendations to council for amendments; and
- Hear Tier 1 appeals on client file decisions.
Members must also adhere to a code of ethics and values, as set out in the ESD Policy Guidelines.
Please note: These positions are voluntary. Out-of-pocket expenses will be covered for attendance at meetings.
Meeting Frequency
The Advisory Group shall normally meet two times annually. Generally, meetings will be held once during the first quarter to review policy and guidelines and once during the fourth quarter to review work plans and budgets.
Additional meetings may be scheduled to accommodate client appeals if necessary.
