NunatuKavut says racist and sexist comments on recent PAL Airlines flight absolutely unacceptable

HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, LABRADOR, December 10, 2019 – NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) President Todd Russell today issued the following statement:

“I was extremely disappointed to learn about the vile and discriminatory actions taken by two male passengers on a recent PAL Airlines flight. Social media posts confirm that the two men were belligerent, making racist remarks regarding Inuit and displaying rude and sexist behaviour.

We commend those who brought these very hurtful acts to light on social media. We also appreciate the quick response taken by PAL Airlines to condemn these actions and indefinitely ban the two passengers from future flights. We are united in solidarity with our Inuit cousins in Nunatsiavut, other Indigenous groups and all those who stand against any and all forms of racism and violence.”
