NYCEP film shorts featured at the 32nd annual St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival!
We are proud to announce that the NunatuKavut Youth Community Engagement Project (NYCEP) team has had TWO film shorts accepted for viewing at this years St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival (SJIWFF)!
The #SJIWFF runs from October 13-17, 2021. Each year, the festival receives nearly 1,000 films for review, all directed and/or written by women! We are so pleased that our NYCEP team has been granted this unique opportunity to share their work with the larger film-making community, and the world!
The two films that were selected are NunatuKavut Inuit and the Dog Team featuring Belinda Williams, and Reclaiming our Roots: One Drum at a Time. Here are the trailers!
Background
The NYCEP project helps youth develop the leadership skills required for success in an academic and professional environment and encourages them to aspire to be leaders in their communities and our increasingly global world. NYCEP participants develop the skills necessary to operate a multimedia lab so they can share knowledge between Inuit youth and non-Inuit youth as well as between generations.
