Provincial Apology to former Residential School Students from NunatuKavut

NL Premier, Andrew Furey will be delivering an apology to former Residential School Students and their families from NunatuKavut on Friday, September 29. He will be joined by Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Labrador Affairs and Minister Responsible for Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation. 

There is limited funding available for former students who might want to travel to Cartwright. Please contact Shaun MacLean by telephone at 709-899-3938 or email at smaclean@nunatukavut.ca

The apology may be triggering for some. Mental health supports are available:

  • Former residential school students can call the National Indian Residential School Crisis Line at 1-866-925-4419.
