The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced health leader to join our team as Manager of Health in the Health and Community Services Department. As Manager, you are responsible for providing leadership, implementation and coordination in the development of a strategic health portfolio. This includes responsibilities like:
- Working with NunatuKavut communities to identify strategic health priorities and gaps in health services and programming to inform the development of a strength-based Inuit health portfolio.
- Planning community programming and land-based activities as it relates to the holistic health.
- Coordinating all aspects of a Learning for Life – Preventing Diabetes project including program and curriculum planning, liaising with partners, logistics and evaluation with direction from the HCS Director:
- Building partnerships with other departments, program and project leaders, and organizations to ensure coordinated and collaborative health delivery.
- Helping to identify funding and other financial resource development relationships and growth opportunities through proposal development;
- Budget oversight, including implementation and reporting.
Additionally, you will be ensuring that Inuit culture, knowledge and language are central components of all health-related activities.
The Person
You have:
- A Bachelor of Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and holds a practicing license with the College of Registered Nurses of NL (CRNNL), combined with three to five years of experience in management.
- Experience with the development and implementation of Inuit community health programming and services.
- Knowledge and expertise with Inuit health policy and prevalence of diverse health issues across the north.
- Knowledge and expertise with teaching diabetes and other health education.
- Experience in proposal development and writing.
- Proven experience developing and coordinating healthy living and land-based projects.
- Strategic thinking and planning skills combined with sound judgement, to anticipate issues, advance interests and provide strategic advice that informs effective decision making.
- Excellent communication and written skills with the ability to articulate and present key messages on complex issues clearly.
