Food and Heat Security Vouchers *CLOSED*

Please note that this program closed as of March 31, 2023.

The Food and Heat Security Voucher program is available to vulnerable populations within NCC’s membership that are experiencing challenges to food and heat security due to fixed or low income or even loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This program ends March 31, 2023.

Members who accessed the voucher program up to the January 2023 will not need to re-apply.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Be a NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) Member

Be at least 16 years of age living in your own household

Family gross monthly income for members up to 64 years old:

  • Single: $2,000 or less a month
  • Families with no dependents: $3,000 or less a month
  • Families with up to two dependents: $4,000 or less a month
  • Families with greater than two dependents: $4,500 or less a month

Family gross monthly income for members aged 65+:

  • Single: $2,400 or less a month
  • Families with no dependents: $3,600 or less a month
  • Families with up to two dependents: $4,800 or less a month
  • Families with greater than two dependents: $5,400 or less a month

A copy of proof of income (i.e. pay stubs) for all adults in your family MUST be provided during the approval process. Applications will not be approved without proof of income.

Note: a dependent refers to a child or adult living in the applicant’s household that the applicant supports financially.

VOUCHER AMOUNTS

FOOD (per month)
Single: $150
Families with no dependents: $200
Families with up to two dependents: $250
Families with greater than two dependents: $400

Heat
The heat voucher is $200 monthly to the end of March 2023. Please have the account number of your heat provider handy when you call. You can also use this voucher to purchase firewood from your own supplier. If you are accessing funds for firewood, please write “firewood” under name of heat provider.

FOOD VOUCHER TYPE

Members living in Labrador will receive a gift card from a local grocery store. Members living outside Labrador will receive an electronic Walmart gift card or direct deposit.
