The minimum qualifications and personal requirements include:
- Criminal record check
- Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant status
- Good health and physical condition
- Not prone to motion sickness
- Mobility and availability on short notice and willingness to remain at sea for extended periods
- Successful completion of secondary education
- Ability to write technical reports working independently
- Ability to complete computer and narrative data forms
Desirable qualifications include:
- Related maritime experience
- Experience in the use of navigational aids
- Familiarity with major fisheries and fishing methods used in NL
- Biological research and/or enforcement training and experience
- Experience in an unsupervised work environment
- Familiarity with court procedures or experience in court cases as a witness
