NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) is looking for enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our team as Food Service Workers at various locations across NunatuKavut territory.

In this fun and fast-paced role, you’ll prepare delicious and nutritious meals that support the health and well-being of our youth. All you need is a positive attitude, a passion for helping, and a love of food — we’ll provide the rest, including training, ongoing support, and all the ingredients.

Job Type: Casual – Hours: 3 – 35 hours/week (flexible depending on availability and need)

Salary: Hourly rate based on an annual salary of $45,000–$55,000

Start Date: Fall 2025

Training & Support Provided

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook daily lunch meals following planned menus and recipes
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and allergy-aware protocols at all times
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen space
  • Label, portion, and safely store food items
  • Participate in occasional food deliveries or coordination with other school sites, as required
  • Support the team with kitchen tasks such as dishes, inventory, and meal counts
  • Complete required logs and paperwork,  as needed (e.g. temperature checks, inventory)
  • Work collaboratively with school staff and food program leads

Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs (ingredients, trays, supplies)
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; occasional bending/kneeling required
  • Comfortable working in busy kitchens with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow food safety and allergy procedures
  • Basic organizational skills and ability to complete required forms
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and a team-first mindset
  • Previous kitchen or food handling experience is an asset, but not required

Other Requirements

  • Valid Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Willingness to complete required training (online and/or in person)
