The NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) is accepting applications for a part-time Language Program Coordinator. Working under the direction of NCC’s Research, Education and Culture department, this position will assist in the coordination, development and implementation of language programming and planning across NunatuKavut. This position will work to engage communities and promote Inuttitut through various avenues. They will also assist in the coordination and implementation of language focused initiatives through the Inuit Education Program and other education-based developments at NCC.

This position is part-time to March 31, 2028.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Departmental Program Lead in organizing and planning Inuttitut training sessions for various age groups, using a variety of platforms throughout NunatuKavut.
  • Coordinate the logistics and other activities of the Inuttitut training sessions.
  • Assist the Program Lead in liaising between instructors and NCC management.
  • Co-lead hosting community events and activities to promote language use and cultural engagement.
  •  Participate in the development and coordination of language research.
  • Collaborate with team members to help produce and archive audio recordings for language resources.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the translation database, and the timely competition of translation requests.
  • Contribute to the development of Inuit-based curricula and resources, ensuring alignment with educational standards.
  • Assist where needed with program budgets and reports.
  • Identify and address project challenges, proposing actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Other related duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge and awareness of Inuit culture, history and ways of life.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Experience aligning program activities with project requirements.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in maintaining databases, assisting on program deliverables, and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse groups.
  • Effective analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have computing skills using MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint and other relevant software. 
  • Experience in program coordination.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours.
  • Must be able to travel with own method of transportation.
  • Familiarity with virtual platforms and tools for remote learning and resource sharing.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in public administration, education, community development or other relevant field of study OR demonstrable equivalent expertise gained through education, training, life, and work experience.
  • Program coordination or administration, ideally in a language, cultural, educational, or Indigenous community-based context.
  • Experience in event facilitation and community engagement.
  • Experience in detailed maintenance of databases.

Preference may be given to qualified members of NunatuKavut Community Council.

Salary: $56,000 – $74,000 – Dependent on qualifications.
