The NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) is seeking a dedicated and committed individual to join our team as Program Coordinator for the Labrador West region. This key role involves organizing, developing, and coordinating Indigenous cultural events and initiatives that reflect the values and priorities of our communities. This position is until November 28th, 2025 with possibility of extension.

NunatuKavut means “our ancient land” and refers to the territory of Inuit who primarily reside in south and central Labrador. The NunatuKavut Community Council is a rights-based governing body representing NunatuKavut Inuit. We are a dynamic, fast-paced, and growing organization that upholds Inuit values of caring, fairness, respect, accountability, and teamwork. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and facilitate various cultural programs
  • Plan and coordinate presentations and events focused on Indigenous culture
  • Lead activities through a blended virtual and in-person approach
  • Oversee logistical planning, delivery, and facilitation of programs (including pre- and post-event activities)
  • Engage in community outreach and relationship-building
  • Facilitate events for diverse groups (e.g., youth, seniors, women) including activities like drumming, crafting, healing, life skills, and gardening
  • Connect with specialized groups to promote cultural awareness
  • Ensure programs comply with organizational policies and practices

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in planning, coordinating, and managing events and activities
  • Strong relationship-building skills with communities, stakeholders, and government partners
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, organizational, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in report writing, proposal development, and data analysis
  • Ability to work independently with strong initiative and motivation
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office, presentation tools, and social media platforms

Education Requirements

  • A two-year diploma in Social Sciences or a related field
    OR
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant life/work experience

Salary: $24.42/hour
