Communal food fishing season for the south coast opens week early on June 24, 2025!We are pleased to let NCC members know that the south coast communal food fishing season for Salmon, Trout and Arctic Char opens at 6:00 a.m. on June 24 and closes at 6:00 p.m. August 1.
Please pay close attention to the schedule outlined below for distribution of designations and salmon tags. Please note that the time and date for Churchill Falls is still to be determined. The schedule can be downloaded as a PDF as well:
Designations will be available in our Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Cartwright and Port Hope Simpson offices during normal office hours in the days after the start date.
- Please present your valid NCC membership card when picking up your designations
- Catch log information is vital to the future of our fishery. Please fill it out and return it to the NCC office nearest you. All catch logs returned by September 30, 2025 will be entered in a prize draw for a fabulous prize!

NCC’s communal food fishery will be managed in accordance with the terms of the 2025 Aboriginal Communal Fishing License provided by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. You will receive a copy when you pick up your tags.

Please remember to make safety a priority on the water during this 2025 fishing season. Wear your personal floatation devices, ensure your fishing vessel and gear is in good working order and let others know your travel plans.
