NCC is inviting nominations for two Elders to be appointed to the Governing Council for a four-year term until fall of 2028. Gender diversity will be a key factor in choosing Elders, one of whom should be a woman.
The essential defining characteristics of an Elder are knowledge and wisdom. They are knowledge keepers, carrying traditional teachings passed down through oral history and Inuit customs and traditions. They are acknowledged by people in our communities as an Elder through a lifetime of learned teachings and earned respect. They must be a full member-resident and available to travel to meetings and events as required.

Each nomination must have signatures from two nominators and have the consent of the Elder being nominated. Deadline is 4:00 p.m. on February 14, 2025.
